Student Life

It was quite a relief that school is over. I finished my last finals last Monday. For the next few months, I don't have to worry about rushing to school and cramming to submit the last minute homework. Finally, I am officially on vacay!

Back to school

A couple of months ago, I had a baby girl. For a whole month of endless diaper changing and sleepless nights, I found myself so mentally bored. I might have stayed home way too long. I have decided to fill up the application for graduate school from my alma mater.

As I got accepted and signed up for 2 night classes a week, I felt elation as well as undue anxiety. I still remember those nights of studying for exams and those all nighters typing. At the back of my mind, I know I have to do this and there is no turning back.

It has been more than 10 years since I graduated college. The internet was just starting at the time. I remember that I only knew 3 people outside of school that had email access. It was also the time that all my money that was saved up from my summer job to buy my first desktop. I also sign up for an internet access which was frowned upon by my mother. She just doesn't like the idea that I am "hogging" the phoneline. The only time I had to use my dial up are during 9 pm till the wee hours of the morning. Now, everyone has online access. Even my mother had an email address. She even have her own laptop.

So, I went back to school. The concept is still the same, you buy an expensive book and head up to your classroom. The only difference was that every classroom has a projector. All lectures were on power point was saved on the school local web that you can have access anytime. Notetaking at this point were at a minimum. Even homework were submitted as a file through digital dropbox. You would be able to get the solutions to your homework assignments by noon in the day of the class. The upside of this was less paper. I have online access to most of the libary database. Sometimes, I got lucky that the article I need is available online. Really, one stop shop. The downside was I lived through my temperamental laptop.

As always, you have to adapt with change. Actually, I like this change. I haven't signed up for the Fall classes but I know I started this and I'll try to finish it till at least, I graduate.
