Monmouth Battlefiled: Re-enactment part 1 2008

The Battle of Monmouth. June 28, 1778.

After small skirmishes in South Jersey, the British and the Continental armies originally started in Philadelphia finally met at Monmouth. It started one of the largest land artillery battle. The Continental army led by George Washington gained the advantage. The British army led by General Henry Clinton retreated back to South Jersey.

The Continental Camp.

Next post would be more pictures that I took along the way before the battle enactment began.

This is our first time on a re-enactment. I came their with no expectations but was surprised with all the production that was going on. It was all coordinated to authenticity from the tents to the costumes. Also, note that all the people on costumes are volunteers. Maybe, I will be back next year.
