Ala Moana Mall - Honolulu, HI

I am a believer that to find out how people live in a particular town, you have to visit the primary marketplace. Well, at least that's my opinion. The first thing I usually check out was the MALL.

Ala Moana Center is the biggest mall in the Honolulu. It is located in the middle of the city, it is also a major bus transfer point if you are going outside the city area.

Sure, you see the same stores. Gap is usually located right next to the food court with Old Navy and Banana Republic are just a couple of store fronts later. What makes one mall unique is the food court. Most of the food stalls are Asian food with an occasional Subway and Sbarro staples.

Next time, I'll try this one. You would guess its Indian food but its Japanese.

I love the outdoor spaces. Its an energy saver.

This place has koi pond.

That dude has a good voice...

One of the cheap eats in Oahu. J loves this place!

Most of the food selection on this stall are somewhat similar to Filipino food. Pancit. Adobo etc. I usually get the combo of Grilled mahi-mahi with rice, salad and clear noodles. It always hit the spot.

Also, a couple of floors up are upscale bakeries that had Japanese and Portuguese pastries. One thing about Asian pastries is that it always have fresh fruit with it. On these bakeries they always have the local flavors such as mango and pineapple. Yummm.
