Puerto Nuevo Restaurant

Among one of the accessible towns in Baja California, Puerto Nuevo is known for good and cheap lobsters. Once you enter the town through the two Roman arches, you would see restaurants lined up with special priced lobster specials.

Based on reviews, we settled on Puerto Nuevo Restaurant. It is located on the two buildings away from the entrance after you pass by the guy in the lobster suit.

After we got settled on the table, the waiter came to us to ask for our orders. Here is the conversation - in English:

Me: Do you have a menu?

Waiter: No

Me: Hokayyy, what do you have?

Waiter: We got lobster and shrimp.

Me: How much?

Waiter: Lobster is $25, Shrimp is $15

For a moment, after I heard those prices, this is not the cheap lunch that I was hoping for. I gave it another shot since its getting late and we still need to go to Foxploration.

We settled for the shrimp. The meal turned out to be a huge feast. It was more than enough for a family of 3. It consists of a handful of prawn size shrimps, flour tortillas, beans, rice, chips and salsa. Food was great.

After we paid our tab, we had a chat with our waiter. Yes, the mono-syllabic guy warmed on us after we gave him a generous tip. He explained that one lobster meal usually feeds a family of four. He has 4 kids, by the way. Just order more rice and and tortillas. Now, if he could have just explained that to us early on. We could have just packed up and moved next door.

Also, he gave us an advice to come back on slow days preferably weekdays when they have a lobster special of $15 per meal. We came on a Saturday.

One happy customer! She loved the shrimp!

Next time we are in the area, I'll make sure to get the lobster!
