Luau 2009 - Plaza Hotel, Las Vegas

Event: Luau at Plaza Hotel, Las Vegas

We were invited on a fundraiser in Plaza Hotel. Its for the benefit of the town north of Ilocos, the mayor of the town is in attendance. It was attended by Filipinos in the California/Nevada area, most of them drove all the way to Las Vegas for the weekend to attended this fundraiser and somewhat reunion.

The event started with the Philippine National Anthem, then some dance routines, singing and the speech by the Mayor. He gave the long winded speech in Ilocano and even I can't understand the half of it, I could tell that the rest of the crowd was getting uneasy but too polite to leave. He was thanking the kind people for their donations but asking for more. I find that embarrassing.

The event was all ho-hum, food is not as memorable but it was great to get acquainted with the Filipino community in the area. Now, if I could get to the beach once outside the hotel, but, oh wait, I am in the middle of the desert!

Bummer!
