Bon Festival 2009 - Fort Lee, NJ

Location:    Mitsuwa in Fort Lee, NJ

Going to Mitsuwa makes me think for a moment that I am in Japan. I haven't been there myself but in my mind it is the closest to Japan than I have ever been.

One of its best features was the food court. It never fails to satisfy me whenever I need a ramen fix or have a bubble tea. I can easily spend hours walking around the supermarket, it is fun to scan the isle for any unusual items. My day ends in getting a bagful of groceries and bento boxes. I could only wish this place is easily accessible where I live but it takes about an hour and half drive up north Jersey not to mention the traffic. I prefer to get here by taking the shuttle from New York Port Authority. It drops you off right in front and it only costs $3 per person.

Try your luck to win a free roundtrip airfare to Tokyo.

You can scoop as many toys and they allow you to keep 3 items.

You need to hook in those balloons.

I wasn't able to take photos freely since this is the first time that I am travelling with Madison by myself using public transportation. It was a challenge to take pictures by using one hand with stroller on the other.

We got there before noon time where the crowd is more tolerable. It was close to impossible to get a sit at the food court, some folks take their food outside and sit on the pavement.

For me, it was also an adventure since it was a test if I would be able to get around the city with Madison. It was difficult since there were a lot of stairs that did not have stroller access. I have to carry Madison, the diaper bag and the umbrella stroller at the same time. Good thing, she was a trooper. There were occasional tantrums but tolerable.

At the end of the day, I am complaining of back pains. I guess I would not be able to do this often but expect me there again next year.
