Books on hold

Books are the only extravagance that I can't live without. It has been part of my life on the first time I read a Nancy Drew mystery novel and life will never be the same again.

I have been buying books faster than I can read it. Now, I found an unused Barnes and Nobles giftcard and I hurried off to buy more books. It doesn't help that my occassional visit to the library makes me take out more books to read. It left my stack of unread books untouched. When can I get through them? I am not sure but I will try my best not to waste them.

Speaking of books, I am a huge fan of Erich Segal of the Love Story fame (remember the line - Love means never to say you're sorry.) Yes! That! I love most of his books : The Class (1985), Doctors (1988), Acts of Faith (1992), and Prizes (1995). He hasn't written on this genre since. His wiki indicated that he is a visiting professor on Ivy league schools and currently teaching in Oxford University.

Another one was Arthur Golden. What happened to him? I remember the Memoirs of a Geisha being one of the hard to put down book (forget about the movie). Where was the follow up book? The last I heard, he was sued by the retired geisha he interviewed for disclosing her identity. It was since settled for undisclosed amount. From here, I haven't heard from him ever since. It also helps that he doesn't need to work since he is related to the owners of the New York Times. Oh well, wasted talent.
