NYC: Macaron Cafe

Oh sugar, where art thou?

Flavors: green tea, lavender honey, peach

Flavors: Rose, Cassis (blackcurrant), forgot the other one.

Look at what I stumbled on my way to fashion avenue in midtown. It's a small French cafe off 36th street. They sell this pastry called Macaroons. For some reason, I always associate macaroons with something with coconut. Of course, this is the French version.

After I got my first taste, I stopped by again to try the other flavors. I was surprised to know that the flavors kept changing everyday. A flavor called Rose seem intriguing. It does taste like like the flower. Even though, I haven't chewed rose but then again, there is always a correlation between the olfactory and gustatory senses. Have you heard when someone says it taste like soap, somehow you understand.

Also, they sell sandwiches and crepes. I still have to try the the sandwiches, the crepes are nothing fancy but above average. Most of the items were a bit pricey, those macaroons cost $1.95 each.

Tisserie at Union Sq have some good macarons too, though I've never seen all those flavors before. The green tea and rosewater sounds good. My fav bakery right now is Amai, at 16th and 3rd. It's really cozy teahouse where you can spend hours reading or chatting.

I'll try to venture out in the village more often, it sounds like there are more better food options in the area.
