Cool Japan Festival

Seen at the Cool Japan Festival 2010:

Green potstickers
They really look appetizing but some of us know that Ajinomoto is synonymous to _ _ _. I have nothing against it. In fact, my grandmother used in on every dish and she is one of the best cooks I know. I just had a change of lifestyle growing up.

The Curry Booth

Growing up, I try to shy away from curry. It is too much spice for me and the smell is somewhat overpowering for my appetite. All that had changed when I tried a Japanese curry meal in a food court in Honolulu. The meal was so memorable that I always look forward to have one whenever I am in the area and not only that, I began to love those boxed instant curry they sell at Asian markets. It is one of those comfort meals I make in the dead of winter.

Frozen fruit smoothies
They are always a permanent fixture at any streetfair.

Hakata Tonton
It was the most popular food booth that day. I tried to come back a few times but the lines are always long. BBQ is always a hit. One of these day I might trek this joint to try out the rest of their menu.

Anything Fried
If you can get a whiff of those. Always the best street food.

Chicken Wings
I think any culture would understand the power of chicken wings unless you are vegan.

Cold Noodles

Something sweet
You could always expect that Japanese pastries were mild on sugar. Most of the times, it is accompanied with fresh tropical fruits. The crepe below was my favorite that day.

This was a great street fair. I look forward to another one next year.

Next weekened, Mitsuwa in Fort Lee would have the annual Summer Bon Festival.
