Mad Men - TV Recap

Alright, from my last recap I thought the next one would be the season ender of Mad Men. Last night's episode was begging for one.

Thoughts from Mad Men Season 4, Episode 7: The Suitcase.

We suddenly see a rare glimpse of Don opening up to Peggy as Dick Whitman but not his alter ego. He even mentions like quips giving information something like growing up in a farm, about seeing his father die with a horse or not knowing his own mother growing up. This information is not something he will mention to Roger nor Roger would be interested in knowing.

With all the drinking going on day and night, those guys won't even live close to Bert Cooper's age. And who would have the last laugh, at least with a kidney.

Rodents are a prevalent theme. First when Peggy saw a rat in Don's office (which he saw it earlier but only to frown on it) and he argued that it is a mouse. He knows the difference since he grew up in a farm. The second one was they were eating in a diner with a Pantheon picture next to their table. Peggy asked why there is a dog in the Pantheon, Don stood and looked up only to differ and said it is a roach. Yikes.

Peggy mentioned that her mother thinks that Don was the father of her baby since he was the only one that visited her in the hospital. He asked if she knew the father? She said yes but I wonder why did he asked. I also wonder if he has any inclination that Pete Campbell was the culprit. I don't think anyone knew in the office.

Duck was trying to get Peggy to form their own agency specializing in women's product. It was a tempting offer to Peggy but there wasn't any solid account yet. The fact that Duck lost his job at Grey Advertising and his tendency of being a lousy drunk didn't make sound appealing. Now that Duck is free, there would be a possibility that he will end up at SCDP to stir the pot once again.

Funny how Duck was in the process to leave Don a "souvenir" but changed his mind when he found out it was Roger's office. I wonder how he was able to get through the security on that building even it is after hours.

The conversation between Peggy and Don about how everyone in the office assumed that she had slept with Don to get her job. He said about drawing the line between work and personal life. I think Don doesn't want to ruin the camaderie between him and Peggy. It is a similar relationship with his "ex-wife" Anna, having those rare and lasting friendship. The last minute work was only a ruse to get Peggy to stay a little longer for her company and somehow Peggy knew that she opted to stay even with one most important day of her life. She didn't seem devastated when her boyfriend Mark broke up with her. She was upset but only to shrugged it out when asked about it.

No Betty, the better.

The last time I asked for more Peggy and Don screen time. At least, I understoond better on how they stand on their relationship. With Don holding Peggy's hand with Peggy holding back, it was a great ending to say thanks.
