Off to Myrtle Beach

Our Colonial Williamsburg tickets are still valid the following day so we decided to make another day out of it before heading to another 8 hour drive to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We visited the museum area and had a quick lunch before heading on the road.

We stopped by a popular local BBQ joint. It had a fast food feel where you order the food on the counter and they call your number for your tray. The selection was a predictable meats and sides. While deciding on the sides there was one with an item called hushpuppies. What's that? It turned out that it is a southern specialty of deep fried breaded cornmeal that when you bite unto, it had that outside crunch but soft inside. It is not my favorite but it was a surprise that I haven't heard of it, till now.

Hushpuppies!*

The drive was uneventful except when we were stuck in traffic which look like we were waiting for the bridge. It turned out that we were waiting for the car ferry. It was one of the good surprises that our long drive was interrupted by a brief ferry ride. It didn't hurt that it was free and we were docked to a town called Scotland.

It was dark when we got to our destination. We went to stay on one of our timeshares' largest resort. Last year we stayed only overnight, just in passing since we stayed in Florida for almost 2 weeks. We like what we saw and vowed to visit again.

We got almost the same exact room from last year but only a couple floors higher.

Living and Dining area.

Spacious kitchen.
Where we spent of our nights watching the show Dexter.

We got a 2 bedroom unit since it is the only unit available. Too much space for the 3 of us.

I love the color combination of this second bathroom. I am considering this color for our home.

This will be our home for the next 5 days. We don't have anything planned except on lounging at the beach or the pool.

Here's what greeted me when I woke up the next day.

The resort has 5 buildings with 4 swimming pools including one indoor pool and gym. It is also located right in front of the beach. It is a great property that caters mostly to families. The only downside I can think of was limited parking. We usually do our food shopping in between the check in and out hours to make sure we got a parking spot in the same building we are staying at.

I love Myrtle Beach.

I must say the hotel is very elegant looking and you have it all in the place. The beach is just a perfect view and looks like your five days stay in the hotel will be worth it. I mean no need to go somewhere else. The beach alone is already a good spot to bond with your family.
