Baby, its cold outside

If you think of being cold, check out the average winter temperature of -40 degrees F at this Eastern Siberian town called Yakutsk, Russia. The town is built on a permafrost in which the soil is permanently frozen year round.

But life goes on in Yakutsk, local folks tend to continue with their daily lives with ice or more ice. Outside work continues till the temperature hits -58 degrees F. The children continue to go to school unless the temperature hits -68 degrees F.

How crazy was that? Here I am complaining about the cold and there wasn't any significant snow yet in New Jersey.

I read this interesting point of view from a local resident on how they spend their typical life from preparing for the winter season in June to how they make an effort to spend time playing with his kids outdoors in the middle of winter. It is interesting how he made it all sound like a life in a sleepy town -or on his case a very cold town.

I live in Shanghai at the moment and I know some people from Russia. Right now the temperatures here range from 2° to -4°C and the Russian guys are always in t-shirt.
Russia must have truly gorgeous places to visit, but I'm not even thinking about going winter time. Only watching that picture makes me shiver!
