Korea series: Korea Food Expo 2011

Whenever you have precious finds, there should be a let down. We saw a billboard outside the Coex mall advertising the Food Expo. We had so much fun at the Kids Fair so we thought why not check it out. It turned out that it is only for trade only. Let me share some ho hum events:

A well placed board outside the Coex Mall. It did look interesting at first.

First indication that its trade only. A handful of folks in suits.

When you get in, you will see a lot of European wines in display. Foreign wines are so expensive in Korea. A bottle of white wine from Napa Valley, California had a 100% mark up.

Makgeolli - local Korean rice wine. They are so cheap, I have seen one bottle that sells for $3 at a convenience store. Traditionally, they drink this on a wide bowl.

We were trying to buy some locally produced wine but they only sell wholesale. Unfortunately, those wines are not available either for purchase on local stores.

Seriously, those mascots do creep me out.

A speaker talks about talking about her favorites food items from the neighboring Southeast Asian countries. She mentioned that she loves the dried mangoes from the Philippines.

So what's up with the shin guards?

Look who I found? If you are a fan of Korean pop culture then it will be hard to miss him. He is currently on mandatory military service.

I was tempted to take my picture with a cut out. But my younger sister had been egging me like crazy. According to her I am such a corn ball. Whatever.
